  • About a year after the previous session
    • High summer in the Dale
  • What we did
    • Korin spends the year raising “Frostfire” the wyrmling and reading about dragons and trying to learn how to parent
    • Kai has become focused on tending the shrine
    • Vorona - befriend children
    • Linde - spends time trying to figure out how to get home, even though she has a scroll that'd let her; also hasn't used sending
    • Birel - has been helping with reconstruction
    • Leopold - set up shop in Targos
  • 3rd Day of Flamerule in 1489 of Dale Reckoning
    • korin & frostfire wake up with a horrible headache
    • find out all the dragonborn had this happen
  • 5th Day - one of Vorona's befriended children brought 'trinkets' from the 'mass grave of monsters' - 3 kobold teeth, 2 dragon scales, dragonegg shard
    • monster's grave up in the mountains
    • kids leave us to a cave about a day away

  • Leopold had set up in Targos
  • 8th day of Flamerule 1489
  • Leopold sent a sending to a friend in Waterdeep to get a message to lord neverember

      • says to call us back in 5 hours
  • cue shopping montage
    • Orpheus gives Korin very good prices
      • gives Korin a periapt of wound closure as a gift, which korin gives him a staff from the tower with an owl head

Session 67

  • Korin has a meeting with Orpheus outside of town
    • turns out Orpheus is Korin's dad – but Korin didn't realize it
    • Frostfire goes off with Orpheus - to be raised and watched over
  • we head north to look for Maccath
  • day 1 travel
    • Maive, Ibor, Idrane, and one frozen in the ice
      • maive is an elf, and 3 are elves
      • formerly frozen one doesn't talk, and is named Cypress
  • day 2 travel
    • find 4 frost worm hatchlings inside a polar bear, that attack
      • Korin gets swallowed by a worm and turns in to a mammoth
  • day 3 (11th Flamerule) - arrive at the sea of moving ice at sunset

Session 68

  • 12th of Flamerule
  • go to AnkaJuk's Bell - on the 3rd stone
    • ring the bell and a fight starts… … with 3 giant vultures, which die before Korin notices the fight happening
  • negotiate for a ride
    • follow some ice fishermen
  • spend a night at see - 13th of Flamerule
    • arrive at the iceberg - having successfully followed the ice fishermen
  • AnkaJuk warns us this is the place of Icydeath - and he says its suicide to go in there
    • but drops us off, with no promise to take us home
    • chasm below ledge we are dropped off on is full of chewed on bones from not-humaniods
    • we climb the stairs up the chasm
  • find a village on top of the iceberg
    • wall of ice made of 10 frozen corpses - dwarf, 3 goliaths in local tribal furs, 3 luskan militia, 3 humans in local tribal furs
      • clearly set here, not frozen here
    • 20 structures - 10 of iceblocks, 10 of double walled seal-skin yurts
      • 1 larger yurt in the center
      • 1 larger structure
      • 1 stands apart closer to the wall of ice
      • 16 are single family
    • as we approach, people come out - ~50, half of which are children, 2 taller adults
      • don't seem to speak our language - one can speak a rough dialect of luskan
      • really don't trust us
  • Vorona and headman ended up in a 1:1 fight - Vorona loses

Session 69

  • reiterate that since Vorona lost, we have to leave
  • we manage to get to talk to their druid
  • says they've spoken with Frozen Death
    • and all they end up doing is having to hunt for the dragon
    • find out it'd be a bad idea to mention we killed the other white dragon
    • we convince her we are determined to go after the dragon
    • she rolls back a rug covering a secret passage to the dragon
      • says she might get killed for doing this
    • 40 feet down, mist starts coming from below
  • end up in a chamber with one exit, with a dozen baskets
  • exit leads to a T, that curves off in two different directions
  • Korin leads left
    • Kai says something is in the next room, at which point in time Tepin summons a white drake
      • Korin is confused about if Tepin is Evil – but Tepin explains that the drake is whatever color Tepin wants
    • kobolds attack mid conversation
      • we kill a dozen kobolds – which is about half the number who sleep in this chamber
      • 6 walrus tusks with draconic imagery
  • explore a bit more - find another stairway up
    • sick villager left at its base - she's there to die
      • we heal her - and take her to the shaman's exit
    • warns us of cold frogs and trolls
  • while walking the sick villager to the stairs up, run in to Maccath
    • seems confused - thinks Leopold is a hallucination
    • says with Leopold's help maybe we can finish it

      • a few months ago a group of humans in purple robes - the negotiated with the dragon to take the device away

        • Horn - carved from the massive the headhorn of one of the original red dragons - when was very ancient
          • runes etched in, dark ebony hue as if blackened
          • horn of Elphelomon - who was the consort of Tiamat - removed horn herself and carved it herself to aid dragons against Giants
            • signaling device that it so large it must be held by 2 people (or 1 large) while a third person blows it
              • can be heard across the entire continent - alerts and warns all draconic creatures in 2000 miles

Session 70

  • kill the ice troll guarding Mccath's place
  • Mccath takes us to scriptorium
    • many things stolen from host tower, much in the scriptorium but some in lair
    • she has been to the lair but never without the dragon watching
    • two entrances to lair
      • one is large hole in scriptorium - says where dragon normally hangs out
      • one is “The traps” - but would need to bypass a number of the dragon's minions
      • more passages in & out of lair - but they are underwater
    • no way to escape while dragon can fly
  • try to read the scroll - have to resist being sucked in to - draconic & abyssal
  • mildy damage spell scrolls: gaseous form, haste, protection from energy, water breathing, black tentacles, fire shield, wall of fire, hold monster, chain lightning, disintegrate
  • ask about cult of the dragon - scrolls
    • elegy for the first world
    • copy about nature of dragons ruling over humans, and how that was supposed to come to be

Session 71

  • Vorona attacks Leopold and then drops out of berserk
  • we decide we need a short rest to prep for the dragon
  • head down a rope ladder, end up on an ice platform
    • wolf two types - rotten eggs, ones with fur
  • we start the fight
    • notice 2 scrags to the north, with Korin walls off
    • dragon comes up from under the ice
    • it gets fireballed a lot - vorona used all but 1 charge of her necklace of fireballs on it
    • Korin finishes it off

    • seems to have less than we'd expect from a lair - think he probably has some other hordes

Session 73

  • 15th of Flamerule
  • teleport to Luskan Host Tower
    • figure out we are now some of Maccath's most valued allies
  • south tower - room 231 - tell james to give a discount from Maccath
    • amulet of nondetection
  • 14th wing - basement - stitch witch - for hat of disguise
  • Maccath gives Linde a portable hole and Korin a green bag of holding
  • James sells us:
    • 250gp amulet of nondetection (Kai)
    • 2000gp amulet of health (Korin)
    • Linde orders an Amulet of the Planes - for 8-10 weeks
    • find out someone is going to be buying an amulet of scrying to scry for the person who stole his bag of teeth (aka Leopold)
    • he make things of metal disks, and his favorite thing to make is magical telescopes for complex magical workings
  • meet Violet - fairy seamstress who makes hats
    • Kai buys a non-descript person hat-of-disguise for 300gp

Except not stuff to evil because they don't want to upset Frostfire. Its very much a sort of “dragon centric” retelling of what's happening, with not a lot of focus on the politics or the peoples. You can assume there are more details than what I put below, since I think Korin can basically show some of the things in Dream. But a rough sense of what is sent:
    • “Dream is of the house the party owns, and its Korin talking to Frostfire. Hey Frostfire. I bought a magic book that lets me send dreams sometimes, so when I can I thought I'd check in and tell you about our travels. After I left you with Orpheus, we went North and went to the lair of ancient white wyrm Arauthator to rescue a friend of Leopold's. If he'd been willing to just let us leave, we would have – but he insisted no one could leave his island alive and so we fought. Apparently I wasn't the first Bahamut follower to come to the island – because we found both not one but two items of Bahamut in their lair. I got to keep the golden canary figurine and Tepin, who also follows Bahamut got to keep the drinking horn that makes potions that can let you turn in to a dragon. I need to ask him if he'll make me one someday when we aren't busy so I can practice flying. We learned some more about what the cult was doing, and rescued some frogmen as well as Leopold's friend. They wanted to go to Luskan, and fortunately I found a scroll with the symbols for a teleport circle in Luskan, so I did that to get us all there. Someday I need to make a teleport circle back in the dale so I can go back their easy. Or I guess learn to teleport but that's much harder than doing the circle. While we were at Luskan some cultists attacked Tepin, and then the innkeeper wouldn't let us stay the night. Tepin didn't start the fight. So then Tepin got a note saying we should go to Waterdeep. So we did the next day, and there's a big council going on about what to do about the cult. Being heroes, we agreed to hunt down one of the leaders and then go help the elves who have a green dragon who keeps attacking their woods. After we do that, I get to go talk to the Metallic Council. A dragon who goes by Ella but is a gold dragon invited us to come talk. I'd have gone right away but she said they aren't in a hurry and there were other things that were timely we needed to do first. So we were going to go do those. But before we did that we went shopping. There was this amazing paint - Korin then spends like 5 minutes telling about the fascinating animated painting of a dragon named Chichi. I should probably get some sleep as we are going to try to catch up with one of the cult leaders tomorrow. How are you liking things with Orpheus?”

So the gold dragon can shapechange in to any humanoid. “War Priest” has Revivify 1/day not from a spell slot. (ie, doesn't need components)

I mean, Korin is going to ask the gold dragon: “Bahamut knows all magics. Can you turn in to something that can revivify my friend?” (and rely on the dragon knowing that war priest is a thing that exists)

And if the dragon can't fix Vorona, I have a backup plan too.

Dream to Frostfire:

Korin is walking down a snowy path with Frostfire, and begins to speak: “So we went and fought a green dragon today. It and its rider had been attacking elven towns. We killed them but Vorona died and we don't have the diamond to raise her. We are going to Waterdeep tomorrow to see if we can find one.

We'd been fighting the dragon in its lair and it had dozens of cultists. We'd killed most of them, when the badly injured dragon grabbed its rider and retreated through the water to a back room. We looked around a bit to make sure it wasn't escaping to attack the town, and then Vorona & I decided to see if we could scout ahead to find it. When we came through the watery tunnel, the dragon ambushed us along with its rider. Vorona went down to the initial breath weapon and the rider shot me twice. I don't know why she hadn't healed herself - I mean, I'd healed myself and the green dragon had healed itself and its rider. Kai and Linde rushed forward to save us, but the dragon chomped Vorona once and then it was to late for her. Linde and Kai saved me. I called on a gift from Bahamut, summoned a gold dragon, and put up a wall of force so we could heal before engaging the green dragon. In the meanwhile, the gold dragon had killed the rider. I dropped the wall and killed the Green Dragon. Admittedly, the Gold Dragon had done most of the damage. It'll be another year before I can summon a dragon again, but I think Bahamut would approve of that use. We brought the Elven Prince who had been killing his own people to sacrifice to his god of outcasts to justice. Though Bahamut might have preferred we bring him back to the king alive for justice – sometimes you just have to do the good you can do.

And then Linde teleported us back to this elven town that gave us hints on where to find the dragon. But it was weird, this goliath sister of Vorona she'd never mentioned showed up from the frozen north in the middle of this obscure elven village where we were staying. And she wants to come with us, but has no idea what we are doing. And she doesn't seem upset Vorona's dead - more just disappointed she didn't get to hang out with her cooler old sister? Apparently Vorona has died before. A lot. She never mentioned that, or maybe I forgot. And like the sister is from Vorona's tribe, but not Vorona's mother's tribe because apparently Vorona is part of two tribes?

But the dragon Chuth killed Vorona, which I think made him the Queen of the Tiger Tribe. Because that's how Vorona became the Queen. And then I killed the dragon, which I think makes me Queen of the Tiger Tribe? Do tribes have Queens? I'm not using the axe. Its dumb and makes you do dumb things. I don't want to be Queen. I wonder if Vorona's sister should challenge me and then if she won she could be Queen of the Tiger Tribe. But what would happen if she couldn't beat me in a fight? That would be awkward and then I might be stuck as Queen. Maybe I can give her the axe? Or I could give the Axe to you just like Vorona's Mom could have given her the axe, and then you could be Queen. Though your probably to young to be Queen even though I'm sure you'd do a better job than Vorona was doing.

Any way. Today was pretty tough for a lot of us. Leopold isn't dealing well. I don't know if we will be able to bring Vorona back, or if Vorona even wants to come back. I mean, her entire thing was she was angry her mom killed her and had to come back and fight her mom. But she did that. She won. I guess now she could come back for Leopold? Like she's left the North and her tribe, err, I guess tribes. And this new sister coming from nowhere feels weird. But I guess maybe she's supposed to be with us? She seemed to invoke some god and say maybe it was their will. I didn't recognize the name but it sounded like that polar bear lady but I don't she was a god.

  • Magmell wanders off, sees a person hand off a scroll - purple hair, black cloak
    • follows a guy down to the poor part of town, retrieves the scroll

    • find out she hasn't told lord neverember yet – and she agrees to delay a bit

  • teleport in to a fountain of a town square

    • merchant tells us not to go in
    • everyone who goes in, either dies or comes out crazy sometimes speaking different languages
  • figure comes out on balcony
    • came out, said it took the mask, and we should meet them beneath the tower

  • find magic items in bottom of pool:

    • come out to a sundial with 3 shadows (north, SE, SW)

  • come to a 90×150 ft room
    • sheep & 2 cyclops - all appear frozen in time
    • as soon as enter, things start moving
    • cyclops challenge to a throwing context
    • Magmel uses a potion of growth, and out throws them
    • the boulder the cyclops threw splits open and turns in to a sapphire
    • “defeated them on the field of katar”

    • some to a long hallway - bubbling fountain in center

  • And the flowers attack! (when someone casts mage hand on one…)
