Was stuffed by Tarbis. * need to retrieve a sled up the north road - coming from dwarves with iron ingots * attacked by a yeti * will pay each person 50g, as well friendship with the dwarves - if we retrieve the sled * we head out, get a couple hours out, and a storm comes up * get to the sled, find it missing * track it, find 6 goblins pulling it towards a large 20ft tall wagon pulled by 2 polar bears * free the polar bears * kill a total of 9 goblins * find * 13 silver, 25 copper, 2 potions, bone whistle * 6 cp + 29 cp on goblins * sled has 300 iron ingots on a sled * (worth 5s per; 2lb per) ===== Session 3 ===== * pull the sled back to town (Bryn Shander), get paid * Korin & Verona-the-Elk pull * rest the night * dwarves offer us a 10% discount * meet a crazy old lady who wants us to find Chuinga's * gives us a tracking lantern that glows brightly if lit within 300 feet of Chuinga's * after shopping, head off to Bremen * get jumped by kobolds * get to Bremen and get paid * Hear about the monster in the lake taking our 2 more sailors - volunteer to take care of it * town will pass the hat for payment * job came from a Tiefling * Tully the half elf has been studying the monster - thinks its dangerous * wants us to write down info on the monster we learn * at inn that night, tavern keep mentions her son was taken off to the castle (there are 2 possible caer's) * Huarwr is his name * taken off by 2 Tieflings * showed necklaces, and he pulled his out, and then left with them * Huarwr had gone out 2 weeks prior on a hunting mission and didn't come back * came back a bit later; and if near the lake to call her when we do * Ravinsin moves around a lot ===== Session 4 ===== * wander to Bryn Shander for lunch, on our way to Caer-Dineval * visit the blacksmith * head out overland towards Caer-Dineval, intending to stop at the wagon over night * get to the wagon and stay the night * head out the next day, and get lightly lost * notice we are being watched * Tuinga riding an Arctic Hair * it causes a flower to blossom in Lindi's hair, and then a small snowstorm to appear * Morning Glory flower * creature than disappears * a line of sage plants starts blooming through the snow * we follow it to an evergreen grove * just as a blizzard blows up - we shelter in the grove * Verona convinces her crow to make friendly motions towards the Tuinga, but it decides not to ride the crow * have a little jam session trying to make friends * Belkor stumbles in to the grove "looking for his knives" * friend of Felsin's; run by Alley & Corey - twins * lost its boats, pearls, tavern * pearls - stolen from Jarthra Vorax * town built in shape of crescent moon around the harbor * Felsin start's asking the thievery * dwarven-ish tracks leading towards Kelvin's Cairn * not stealing food * stole magic lantern - enchanted to change colors - "Auril's Blessings" * if going after the thieves - should get Jarthra to help us track them and not take Trovus * rest the night at Northern Light * go looking for Jarthra - blond dwarf woman * she harnesses the dogs and said we should be going * start following tracks * follow a single dwarves track for a couple hours, see it intersect with another set * other tracks were a sled pulled by a lame ogre * lose the tracks briefly, find them again * seems to lead to a sort of stone enclave set in to the hill * open-roof bunker with arrow slits & trap door going down * climb up to the top * see a Duergar in it * we ambush the Duergar ===== Session 5 ===== * continues exploration * goes down the ladder, through a tunnel, up a ladder and in to a room with a guard * 1 Duegar - drop her quickly * find a small black stone on a necklace * and a calling horn - Korin claims it * go a bit further, find a room with an undead ogre and 2 goats, in cages * kill the ogre * find the sleep quarters, kill 2 sleeping duegar; looks like there had been 4 beds * find an office * a note: Brother, You will find me on the frozen ferry in Easthaven. From this new base, the search for chardalyn continues. Rork owner * wander up to castle * initially don't want to let us in, but then do once they hear our names * Khaldroth - tiefling - "in charge" * facilitating things while the Speaker Krannog is unwell * Mir - maybe a tiefling? * In room across from the cat's room - rocking chair, with an ancient dwarf in it * she says she's going to die and go to the hells * offers to answer our questions * must travel to north & south - must stop zardok sunblight * if don't the ten towns will all be destroyed, one by one * must find him in the south in the spine of the world * death awaits if you go to soon, or to late * must forge yourselfs in the north - local chapter lead by Khaldroth * Lavistas is who cult leader works for ===== Session 8 ===== * Start planning storming the castle * folks we don't want to kill: Mir, Stableboy, Cook; maybe the son * other names from Krannock: Lanthis, Dosser * basement door leads to a hallway, with several storage rooms off of aquifer * aquifer is split - one of the storage rooms off to the right has lever to open/close split * we theorize prisoners might be in basement * start the fight at the bottom of the tower * kill 3 guards, find out one had been writing a diary about how he accepted warmth of hell in to his heart * pile some stuff on top of the trap door * go to the second tower, kill 3 guards but this time not silently * when come up from the first floor find 2 people investigating -- tiefling & huawr (son) * drop the both, heal huawr & tie him up * go to the third tower, just after they left it * verona steps outside and thunderwaves them to death * thunderwave lets them know something is going on * guards come out of 4th tower * we end them quickly * head in to the keep * Mir decides to hide in the storage room -- after telling us about Thoob (nasty piece of work) & Khaldroth * invade the keep offices * kill Thoob * kill Khaldroth * proceed to basement * 2 cold storage rooms * in aquifer * 12 dead bodies frozen at bottom, in livery of Caer Dineval * then find a room with 2 doors out * shrine with statue of Lavistis - Arch Devil * humanoid figure in chains in pillar of ice * seems to have mold on wall behind the statue - carniverous mold * does AoE cold damage for getting at all near it * go down the west hall * encounter white tiefling * she is studying magic * she tells us to go away - seems inclined to talk with us * Kai starts the fight with Thunderwave * start talking with her * She deals with Lavistas - but is not his servant * there is power in the north, and he wants it * she says she is not an immediate threat * we keep attacking her - she flees * we over hear her muttering to herself as she leaves: "They better be as useful as you say they are." * investigate her desk * writing feather is an albino raven * go down the east hall * find the lever * pull the lever * find a 3rd cold storage room, with 5 of the speaker's servants * ferry people out, and will talk to everyone starting next event * Get 4th level ===== Session 9 ===== * questioning folk in the castle * white tiefling: Avarice * Khalgoth - was trying to collect the shards to channel the power of the north for the devils * competing with Deugar for it * old woman who did prophecy was Hethyl * korin goes in to the basement * pulls bodies out of the water * eldritch blasts the mold in to nothing * burns/melts the demon statue in to nothing * drags the chains from the statue up and drops it off * invited to stay at the castle whenever * travel to Bremen via Bryn Shander ===== Session 10 ===== * talk with Kora * she's going to travel down, collecting a priest, and see her son * hear about some people not being able to sleep * some people are just hearing voice repeating sounds in their sleep * the Gith realizes it is deep speech - something about a crashed nautilus needing a new psy-crystal and asking to send health * head to investigate * meet up with a couple dwarves transporting ale * get attacked by an Ice Troll * creature holy to Auril * Kai has a crisis of faith ===== Session 11 ===== * outside the ship * fight a pair of carrion crawlers * go inside the ship * fight a flesh golem, 3 baby mind flayers, and 2 short adult mindflayers * Looting the ship: * find 5 intact "lazer hand crossbow" (lazer rifle) and 3 partial ones w/o energy cells * 3 have an energy cell that can be fired 30 times. * 2 have an energy cell that can be fired 50 times * 6 inch rod w/ button - pacifier rod - Any creature within 30 feet with an INT of 3 or lower must make a CON save DC 13 or be incapacitated. 25% chance the rod breaks each use. * monocle - functions as eyes of minute seeing * helm of telepathy - made out of space slug - was broadcasting signal - kill the slug to stop the broadcast affecting people * we explode the ship by activating its self destruct sequence * Korin assumed it was because of the bonfire he had lit under it ===== Session 12 ===== * start heading back * next day a blizzard comes in * during the blizzard a Bullette attacks * after the fight, Lindi gets lost in a blizzard * ends up getting bamf'd off by some elven-ish "your majesty" * apparently the summer court wants her to figure out why its been winter to long * bamf's Lindi back * skin the Bullette * get back to town, here lots of folks are sleeping lots more recovering * next day, head to the next town - Targos * get there, hear some rumors * decide to head over to east haven * investigate gnolls who killed 2 people and stole a magic fishing hook * investigate the frozen ferry ===== Session 13 ===== * On way to East Haven, have to pass through Brynn Shander * meet Branika - ask why she wants chuinga * go to the temple of morning lord * priest points out he follows someone else not Lathandar * obscure old version that Lathandar from an ancient empire * offer to take supplies to someone * will do so in a few days * head over to Easthaven * see a man of the Brotherhood burned alive for killing people * Imdra aka Captain Arlaggath - militia captain * wants us to go investigate someone held in a prison * gives us grey bag of tricks & scroll of fireball; will pay us 250 gold when we come back * wants us to go north and ask Dzaan what the brotherhood was up to * go to "Revel's End" - imprisoned head of the Brotherhood "Vaelish Gant" * What is he up to? How do we stop it? * Tell the captain of the prison - ask & warn * go to Kelvin's Cairn, pass the Black Cabin, and go to the Sea of Moving Ice, and follow it north * Black Cabin is on the north shore of Maer Dualdon * Offers to tell us about the Gnolls * Mabira Morskull was out fishing - had enchanted fish hook that captured magical fish * Gnolls attacks while they were out on the ice & stole hook & pole * found an icy rift with laughing coming out of the ground - cackling chasm * will pay 10g per gnoll killed * Asks about footprints - we point out they are in the Duegar in the ferry * have been breaking & entering but not stealing anything * Mentions Red Yeti - a yeti so vicious that it has died its fur red with the blood of its victims * next day head out over Loc Dinneshere to go Gnoll Hunting * at lunch a group of 3 mountain goats approach us, one ridden by an owl * the lead goat is named Baab, who tells us to turn around and go home * owl is a druid, who when Verona speaks druidic, tells us they mean harm to us, and a fight starts * "Solemn Bay" - Druid of Auril - says this is her lands * we fight a bit, and the bard Suggestion's the druid to sit down and talk with us * we ask her questions * Korin asks about the white dragon * white dragon - Arveiaturace - gave her heart to a human centuries ago * human's corpse still rides on her back * knows the gnolls, wants them to kill town folk * mentions the Moose is an awakened creature of the other druid (Radisen) who awakened the sea monster * clearly dislikes the towns and especially the townfolk * fight breaks out, but manages to get an animal messenger cast on Karl before she dies * sends him with the message to Radisen "to avenge her" * we kill the druid * find some 4 very poisonous berries on her * find 3 bright golden berries - goodberries * Felsin befriends the Awaken'ed goat: Hubert * we sleep in the dead druid's camp, and have roast goat; and get Hubert the Goat drunk ===== Session 14 ===== * get to the chasm * kill 4 gnolls * find 4g, 14s, 21cp * kill a Fang Gnoll - get a silver spear & the magic fishing pole (w hook of fisher's delight) * find 21g 56s 117cp * find a pepper shaker with a W on it * kill 12 more gnolls * collect: * 16 heads * 16 longbows * 16 spears * find a human in a cage * in hide armor * eyes are jet black, has a jet black javelin, blackened skin * javelin made of shardalin - treasure below? * Verona trades a story for the location * Head out to investigate the mines - apparently gemstone mines - 50g to clear them out - * Speaker Orus - half orc * Go down to investigate the mines * go down, find 2 kobold * Trex - grew wings like a real dragon, Kobold chief * blessed by Kobold god * Kurtulmok (kobold god - creator of kobolds) * smart * go down to meet Trex * has a backpack with fake wings attached * says want to join the surface folk and work with them * seems lying * says willing to work mines * fine moss and other things only a druid could understand, need to take to Termalaine * backpack contains a spirit - They needed to follow the heard: we helped them pack up & load the camp onto dog sleds. Kai passed out & road on a sled, Flovgaard died (again), but some of us made it through. Isolation: we showed up & Bjornhild Solvigsdottir, the queen of the tribe, was preparing to leave the camp with us to go raiding the Elk Tribe’s village. Verona confronted her with, “hello, Mother”. The Queen denied having a child, at which point Verona told the story of how she was cast out into the sea of moving ice as an infant sacrifice to Arel, ensuring Bjornhild’s immortality. She was saved by polar bears and returned from the dead multiple times in order to find Bjornhild and tear her limb from limb. Hathowyn - but only verona & leopold get told the name * Linde is told by the dryad that the dryad's name is Susan * survive due to the magic of the city * dryad feeds us magic pears - various effects including * charm of restoration - Korin gets a charm of cure wounds * we travel some distance to the fallen flying city - necropolis * fell 4000 years ago * from the ramp leading to the city, see occasional things slinking through shadows * far end of ramp * statue with no features, 18ft tall, double jointed knees, 2 arms with 4 finger-claws, holds a huge hammer * appears to have been petrified * bunch of ruins to the left * some sort of ampitheatre with 3 tall pillars in the middle * we go to check out the ruins * check out a square building (roll 96 on d100) - had been a wealthy family home * we hear something upstairs - Felsin scouts and sees a Demilich - floating skull * a fight breaks out, we kill it * it will reform in a few days unless we find the phylactory * looks like they were building a guard post to watch the ice bridge from * we go to check one of the parapets - (roll 8 on d20, 'high' chosen) * looks to be a mages study, covered ice - library, living quarters, 2 laboratories * books in frozen pile under ice, acid damaged run under ice * most places looks like room badly jarred - bookshelves knocked over - some things damaged by being quickly frozen * kai finds a not-quite-finished wand, with the drawing of a specific tree beside it * made of netherese oak - trees are borderline sentient - can amplify spells * kai breaks the wand in to 3 parts accidentally trying to extract it * linde - finds 2 small rectangular parchment - tickets to ythrin's orchestra freshly back from their world tour * felsin - finds a hidden panel, and finds a series of runes needed to be used to raise part of the forcefield of the central spire * birel - finds a diary frozen open to a specific page - discusses meditating in the hall of weightless wonders, and how Solumnus and the tower resident making a monthly activity of it to improve their health * korin goes looking for dragon stuff - finds a painting of a dragon variety I've not heard of before - pink, delicate, lacy wings sitting in a flower - fairy dragon * life size portrait of a fairy dragon sitting in an unknown flower * verona - finds a summons Artorio Baleron - summoned to his quarterly duty to prestigitate the city streets * we go towards center - stopping at tower with a blue light at the top * abjuration runes on tower - though one rune is the rune for insanity - insanity ward - if step inside tower, we are likely to trigger the effect * Felsin disables the rune, changing it from 'insanity' to 'shower' * go to the top of the tower * huge anvil with vivid blue runes - armor is fused on to them * we go to a different tower * yellow light from the top, and sound of brooms * we wander up to the top chamber and are attacked * 4 magic hands guarding a pedestal with a tiny tower in the middle * we beat them down * Linde reaches out and touches the tower on the pedestal - a portal opens * we blindly step through it in to an extremely cluttered hallway/hovel - 40ft x 20ft - den * probably a hags den - 3 of them - night hags * Autie Pinch, Pillage, and Plunder * one was stirring a pot, one was working a loom, one was reading a book: Malleus Malificarum * "Sisters we have visitors" * some script on draconic on the walls * each hag wears a necklace with a tower like the one we touched to get in here * we start talking with them * Korin tries to trade dragon knowledge for dragon knowledge * offers a trade: trades his coloring book for another book of dragonkind - flower to pretty to eat - aquatic rose growing in tree bowl - rose of lies - ignore it * vegetable - ome - tree growing vegetable - not cold hearty - harvest a bunch of roast later * fruit - bayelope - Completely glosses over fights, but gets super invested in describing anything draconic. Except not stuff to evil because they don't want to upset Frostfire. Its very much a sort of "dragon centric" retelling of what's happening, with not a lot of focus on the politics or the peoples. You can assume there are more details than what I put below, since I think Korin can basically show some of the things in Dream. But a rough sense of what is sent: * "Dream is of the house the party owns, and its Korin talking to Frostfire. Hey Frostfire. I bought a magic book that lets me send dreams sometimes, so when I can I thought I'd check in and tell you about our travels. After I left you with Orpheus, we went North and went to the lair of ancient white wyrm Arauthator to rescue a friend of Leopold's. If he'd been willing to just let us leave, we would have -- but he insisted no one could leave his island alive and so we fought. Apparently I wasn't the first Bahamut follower to come to the island -- because we found both not one but two items of Bahamut in their lair. I got to keep the golden canary figurine and Tepin, who also follows Bahamut got to keep the drinking horn that makes potions that can let you turn in to a dragon. I need to ask him if he'll make me one someday when we aren't busy so I can practice flying. We learned some more about what the cult was doing, and rescued some frogmen as well as Leopold's friend. They wanted to go to Luskan, and fortunately I found a scroll with the symbols for a teleport circle in Luskan, so I did that to get us all there. Someday I need to make a teleport circle back in the dale so I can go back their easy. Or I guess learn to teleport but that's much harder than doing the circle. While we were at Luskan some cultists attacked Tepin, and then the innkeeper wouldn't let us stay the night. Tepin didn't start the fight. So then Tepin got a note saying we should go to Waterdeep. So we did the next day, and there's a big council going on about what to do about the cult. Being heroes, we agreed to hunt down one of the leaders and then go help the elves who have a green dragon who keeps attacking their woods. After we do that, I get to go talk to the Metallic Council. A dragon who goes by Ella but is a gold dragon invited us to come talk. I'd have gone right away but she said they aren't in a hurry and there were other things that were timely we needed to do first. So we were going to go do those. But before we did that we went shopping. There was this amazing paint - Korin then spends like 5 minutes telling about the fascinating animated painting of a dragon named Chichi. I should probably get some sleep as we are going to try to catch up with one of the cult leaders tomorrow. It and its rider had been attacking elven towns. We killed them but Vorona died and we don't have the diamond to raise her. We are going to Waterdeep tomorrow to see if we can find one. We'd been fighting the dragon in its lair and it had dozens of cultists. We'd killed most of them, when the badly injured dragon grabbed its rider and retreated through the water to a back room. We looked around a bit to make sure it wasn't escaping to attack the town, and then Vorona & I decided to see if we could scout ahead to find it. When we came through the watery tunnel, the dragon ambushed us along with its rider. Vorona went down to the initial breath weapon and the rider shot me twice. I don't know why she hadn't healed herself - I mean, I'd healed myself and the green dragon had healed itself and its rider. Kai and Linde rushed forward to save us, but the dragon chomped Vorona once and then it was to late for her. Linde and Kai saved me. I called on a gift from Bahamut, summoned a gold dragon, and put up a wall of force so we could heal before engaging the green dragon. In the meanwhile, the gold dragon had killed the rider. I dropped the wall and killed the Green Dragon. Admittedly, the Gold Dragon had done most of the damage. It'll be another year before I can summon a dragon again, but I think Bahamut would approve of that use. We brought the Elven Prince who had been killing his own people to sacrifice to his god of outcasts to justice. Though Bahamut might have preferred we bring him back to the king alive for justice -- sometimes you just have to do the good you can do. And then Linde teleported us back to this elven town that gave us hints on where to find the dragon. But it was weird, this goliath sister of Vorona she'd never mentioned showed up from the frozen north in the middle of this obscure elven village where we were staying. And she wants to come with us, but has no idea what we are doing. And she doesn't seem upset Vorona's dead - more just disappointed she didn't get to hang out with her cooler old sister? Apparently Vorona has died before. A lot. She never mentioned that, or maybe I forgot. And like the sister is from Vorona's tribe, but not Vorona's mother's tribe because apparently Vorona is part of two tribes? But the dragon Chuth killed Vorona, which I think made him the Queen of the Tiger Tribe. Because that's how Vorona became the Queen. And then I killed the dragon, which I think makes me Queen of the Tiger Tribe? Do tribes have Queens? I'm not using the axe. Its dumb and makes you do dumb things. I don't want to be Queen. I wonder if Vorona's sister should challenge me and then if she won she could be Queen of the Tiger Tribe. But what would happen if she couldn't beat me in a fight? That would be awkward and then I might be stuck as Queen. Maybe I can give her the axe?
